SkillsMP: The Largest Agent Skills Marketplace
SkillsMP: The Largest Agent Skills MarketplaceIntroduction
What is SkillsMP
SkillsMP is an aggregation marketplace for Agent Skills currently at the largest scale for Claude Code, Openai Codex CLI, and ChatGPT, adopting the open SKILL.md standard. As of February 2026, the platform has aggregated over 121,000 community skills from GitHub, offering features such as AI semantic search, category browsing, and popularity ranking.

SkillsMP Features
AI Semantic Search: Describe your needs in natural language (e.g., "skills about trading"), and the system intelligently matches relevant items from over 120,000 skills
Category Browsing: Organized into 12 major categories including Tools, Development, Data & AI, Business, DevOps, Testing & Security
Quality Filtering: Sets a minimum 2-star threshold to filter out low-quality repositories, while scanning indicators such as update time, star count, and author activity
One-Click Installation: A single command installation via marketplace.json (e.g., /plugin install skill-name)
Progressive Loading: Adopts a "lazy loading" mechanism that first loads metadata (30-50 tokens) and then loads the full SKILL.md when triggered, saving context
Cross-Platform Compatibility: Supports Claude Code, Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, and more
Documentation Center: Provides guide documents and best practices such as What are Skills, Skills vs MCP, and When to Use Skills
SkillsMP Use Cases
Software Development: Find skills for code review, test fixing, Git operation automation, feature planning, etc., to build a semi-automated development workflow from requirement breakdown and code implementation to automatic test fixing.
Design Review: Use skills like uiux-design-review to perform structured design reviews and accessibility analysis on websites or applications, outputting review reports covering layout, color contrast, and WCAG standards.
Data Analysis: Discover data processing, log analysis, and tabular data analysis skills under the Data & AI category, automatically generating summaries and chart explanations.
Business & Content Creation: The Business and Content & Media categories cover market research, SEO planning, copywriting, and social media content generation, suitable for marketing teams to standardize content output.
Enterprise Knowledge Accumulation: Teams can encapsulate tacit knowledge of senior employees (such as contract review processes, tax inspection steps, and operations checklists) into SKILL.md, enabling standardized reuse of experience.
SkillsMP Pros and Cons Analysis
Pros:
Abundant Resources: Aggregates 121,000+ community skills, covering 12 major fields
Accurate Discovery: AI semantic search is more precise than traditional keyword search
Open Standard: Based on the SKILL.md specification, skills can be migrated between multiple agents
Context-Saving: Progressive disclosure mechanism, where a single skill only consumes 30-50 tokens of metadata
Active Community: Officially recognized by Anthropic, LangChain, etc., with an active ecosystem
Customizable: After installation, SKILL.md can be freely edited to add custom best practices
Cons:
Inconsistent Quality: Although a 2-star threshold is set, skills come from the GitHub community and are not officially certified, so you need to review the code yourself
Installation Barrier: Requires cloning repositories and copying folders, which is not very friendly for complete beginners with no coding experience
Average Discovery Experience: The existing categorization and sorting mechanisms are not perfect, and it's hard to find curated Skills based solely on star sorting
Platform Limitations: Skills using MCP tools only support Desktop + CLI, not the Web version
Bulky Installation: Currently it's troublesome to install multiple skills at once, and the bulk installation feature is still under development

SkillsMP FAQ
Do Skills work on all platforms? Most skills support Web + Desktop + CLI. However, Skills using MCP tools only support Desktop + CLI, not Web. Check the platform compatibility tags on the skill detail page.
Can I install multiple skills at once? The bulk installation feature is coming soon. Currently, you can install skills with marketplace.json via /plugin marketplace, or download ZIP files and manually copy them to ~/.claude/skills/.
What's the difference between Skills and MCP?Skills are encapsulations of knowledge and workflows (prompts
They solve different problems and are complementary: Skills handles "knowing how to do it," while MCP handles "what tools can be used to do it."How many tokens do Skills take up?Very few. It adopts progressive disclosure: metadata is roughly 50-100 tokens (always loaded), the full SKILL.md is roughly 2000-5000 tokens (loaded when triggered), and templates/scripts are loaded on demand.
Can I modify downloaded skills?Of course! Skills are just local files — you can edit SKILL.md, modify the scripts/ directory, add your own best practices, and even fork on GitHub to share your version (please respect the original license).
How do I use slash commands in Claude Code? Some skill packs (such as PM-Skills) support slash commands. After installation, you can use commands like /prd, /hypothesis, etc. to quickly call specific skills.
SkillsMP has been cited and recommended by Anthropic's official blog and the LangChain blog, making it one of the largest Agent Skills discovery platforms at present. Its core idea is to turn professional experience into reusable knowledge assets — for example, domain expertise such as a legal expert's contract review process, an accountant's tax planning standards, or a doctor's diagnostic framework can all be packaged as skills.
