Ezoic: AI-Driven Ad Optimization & Site Speed Platform for Publishers
Ezoic: AI-Driven Ad Optimization & Site Speed Platform for PublishersIntroduction
What is Ezoic?
Ezoic is a Google publishing partner and an AI-driven ad optimization and site acceleration platform aimed at website owners, primarily helping sites monetize through ads. A similar service provider is Mediavine, and both increase revenue through technical optimization of ad placements. They can boost earnings per thousand visits by 30%–250%. To use Ezoic, you first need your own AdSense account and authorize it access. You can see its test ad units in the AdSense backend, but it can access higher-quality ad inventory, though this requires becoming a member.

Core Advantages of Ezoic
Significant Revenue Boost: As a Google-certified partner, Ezoic is a premium alternative to AdSense. Some users have reported that their original AdSense RPM was only $1–5, and after switching to Ezoic, daily earnings went from $5 to $10; another site earned $200 from AdSense in four months, then jumped to $1,300 after switching to Ezoic. Even with low traffic, revenue growth can be substantial.
Rich Features: Beyond ad monetization, it also offers site caching, acceleration, GDPR compliance, and video support.
High Technical Efficiency: It's not a traditional ad network, but rather aggregates multiple ad networks and exchanges (mainly Google AdX), using machine learning to test and optimize ad placements based on user behavior, matching each user with the right ads to unlock more earning potential.
Flexible and Free to Use: The free version works, but it only keeps the revenue from one ad unit, and the rest of the ad slots will be filled with Ezoic's own ads. There are no fixed contracts; you can turn it off anytime if you're not satisfied, and it won't affect your site or AdSense.
How to Apply for Ezoic?
Two conditions must be met before signing up:
Website Traffic: Previously required at least 10,000 monthly visitors. This restriction was removed after June 18, 2021, so sites with less but high-quality traffic also have a chance to be approved.
Compliance Requirements: Must comply with Google policies. No invalid clicks, illegal content, offensive content, plagiarism, gambling, adult content (except health or news), counterfeit goods, alcohol, tobacco, etc. Traffic sources must be reliable, and keyword stuffing is not allowed.
Steps to follow after registering:
Migrate Your Site: The option marked with the red box is recommended.
Link Your AdSense Account: Ezoic can help you set up ad test units.
Apply for Google Ad Exchange: This is Google's ad trading system. It's difficult to apply for; ad slots are auctioned to the highest bidder, but it helps boost revenue.
Link Google Analytics: Ezoic needs your site data to run tests.
After completing these four steps, your site still can't start earning directly. Each site is manually reviewed to check if traffic and quality meet the standards. Ezoic has a lot of documentation, but it's not very beginner-friendly. When I first applied, I waited several days without earning anything. Later I learned I had to add the account in Google Analytics and send an email with the link (ask support for details). To speed things up, you can email the support team to follow up; they reply pretty quickly.
After approval, turn on the ads button on your site, start ad testing in the relevant interface, copy your original ad placements into Ezoic, and it will begin testing different ad performances.
Note: Revenue won't increase immediately; there's a 4–6 week testing period, and the more traffic you have, the faster the testing. Once testing is done, you don't need to do anything further—Ezoic will continuously optimize ad placements.
What Are Ezoic's Revenue Sources?
Regular account revenue mainly comes from two sources:
Ezoic Ad Partners: The main source of revenue.
Mediation Ad Partners: If you've added other ad networks, Ezoic will match the highest-bidding ads for you, but I don't earn much from this portion.
Premium Account Revenue: After using it for a while, Ezoic will send promotional emails about Premium accounts; you can give it a try if interested. Premium accounts add more high-quality advertisers on top of the existing ones, who will bid higher for ad slots. Premium accounts charge tiered fees based on profit scale. My revenue increased by about 20% after using it, and after fees the net income was still decent, depending on your site's scale.
Other Services
Site Acceleration: Suitable for lazy people like me who don't want to mess with Cloudflare—you can pay directly to use Ezoic's acceleration service, charged by traffic. Even sites that haven't started earning can use it. I bought traffic packages for my larger site and also used acceleration on smaller sites; page load scores went from the 30s to the 90s (Pagespeed score), with good results.
Ad Serving Features: I didn't go into detail on this; you can research it yourself after applying.
Everything has two sides. Ezoic's biggest drawback is that it may affect user experience—too many ads. After all, monetization relies on ads, and simply optimizing ad placements has limited room to boost revenue.
Ezoic vs. Mediavine: Pros and Cons Comparison
| Platform | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Ezoic | • Low barrier to entry; usable for beginners or small/medium sites • AI testing can find more revenue opportunities • Many features, including speed optimization, SEO, and security • Google-certified partner with relatively comprehensive technical support | • Revenue is unstable during the testing period; requires patience • Ads can sometimes be excessive, potentially affecting content consumption • Steeper learning curve than Mediavine |
| Mediavine | • Sites with high traffic and good content earn more and more steadily • Restrained ad placement, comfortable for users, good reputation • Team specializes in monetization and works efficiently | • High barrier; new or small sites can't get in • Fewer features; no speed or SEO tools • Strict review; many applications get rejected |
Additionally, Ezoic supports PayPal and Payoneer for payouts, but does not support domestic bank wire transfers. I use Payoneer for payouts, with about 1% in fees. Wire transfers are now more troublesome; Payoneer is convenient, and personal use doesn't count against the foreign exchange quota.
Ezoic isn't necessarily the best choice—different sites suit different service providers. Its site quality requirements are relatively low, so if you have the time, you can compare several optimization service providers.
