Shazam Web: Identify Songs Directly in Your Browser
Shazam Web: Identify Songs Directly in Your BrowserIntroduction
Shazam is an app developed by Apple for identifying music playing around you. It works on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple Vision Pro, HomePod, and Android devices, using audio fingerprinting technology to quickly match against its music library and return song information. In addition, it offers a web-based recognition feature and a Chrome extension that can identify the music currently playing in a browser tab.

Shazam Features
It can identify songs playing around you or inside apps such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, providing the song name, artist, album, and other details within seconds.
After identification, you can open and listen to the song directly in Apple Music or Spotify, and the identified result can be automatically added to your "My Shazam Tracks" playlist.
You can view real-time lyrics and official music videos, and also get recommendations for local and global trending tracks.
It can discover and track upcoming concerts, and provide concert reminders and ticket information.
It supports offline tagging — saving the audio fingerprint first when there's no internet, and completing the identification once back online.
How to Use Shazam Web Version
Shazam Web Version: Open shazam.com in any modern browser, click the Shazam icon in the bottom-right corner of the page, grant microphone permission when prompted, and move closer to the sound source to identify. The result will display the song, lyrics (if available), videos (if available), and possible concert information.
Chrome Extension: Open the Chrome Web Store, search for and install the "Shazam" extension, pin it to the toolbar, and click the extension icon in the tab playing music to identify it.
Workaround for Windows Users: Install the "User-Agent Switcher" plugin in Chrome/Edge, select the "Safari - macOS" mode, refresh the Shazam website, and the identification button will appear.
Actions After Identification: Once identification is complete, you can click the result to listen on shazam.com, or click "Connect to Apple Music" to listen/watch on the Apple Music web version. However, playing full songs/videos requires an Apple Music subscription.
Shazam Web Version Feature Entry Points
Web identification results can be directly opened in the Apple Music web version to play or add to your library, but login and authorization are required.
When using the extension, click the Shazam icon in the browser toolbar to identify music on the current page. However, the extension's identification history is not synchronized with Shazam App or shazam.com.
Songs identified on the web will not be saved to the Shazam App.

Solutions When Identification Fails
Try to keep the music clear and unobstructed, turn up the volume, get closer to the device's microphone, and avoid interference from vocals and ambient noise.
If it's music playing on a webpage, it's better to use the Shazam extension on that specific tab for a higher success rate.
If you want to listen in full or save the song after identification, make sure you are connected to Apple Music and have an active subscription.
Additional Information for Mobile
On iPhone/iPad, you can ask Siri directly "What song is this?" to identify a track. You can also view history, lyrics, and videos inside the Shazam App, and add songs to your Apple Music playlists.
Enable iCloud sync in Shazam settings to securely synchronize your identification history across devices.
Shazam Web Version vs. Mobile Feature Comparison
Identification Speed, Accuracy, and Feature Consistency: The web version has the same identification speed and accuracy as the App version, returning the song name, artist, and album cover within 3-5 seconds.
Follow-up Actions: After identification, you can be redirected directly to Apple Music (subscription required), Spotify, or YouTube to play/save the song.
History Sync: After signing in with the same Apple ID, your "My Shazam" history can be synchronized.
Feature Limitations: The Shazam web version currently does not support offline identification, Auto-Shazam, or other advanced features.
