Shuge: Open Online Library of Ancient Chinese Books 92

Shuge.org is a free and open online library of ancient books. It is dedicated to the open sharing, introduction, and recommendation of valuable ancient book editions, and encourages the digital archiving of cultural and artistic works. The shared content is limited to books in the public domain (referring to the standards of the Berne Convention); we restore the appearance and content of the books to the greatest extent possible. Through this initiative, we aim to let everyone freely and freely appreciate those books that are difficult to access in the present day, allowing everyone to feel the progress of human civilization from them.

The books published on Shuge are mainly in high-resolution color image PDF format. Most books have a single-page width of over 1400 pixels and a spread width of over 2400 pixels. The publication years of the books range from Song and Yuan dynasty rare editions, Ming and Qing dynasty fine editions, to more recent publications.

Whenever possible, when faced with the same book, we try to follow the priority of publication quality and time, selecting the best resources of the same type for sharing and introduction. Some books will list excellent resources from different editions side by side. In terms of content, we try to select fine editions with high appreciation and reading value, so we prefer: art books, illustrated books, rare books, as well as some books with relatively high printing quality.
