Cloud Studio: Online IDE by Tencent Cloud
Cloud Studio: Online IDE by Tencent CloudIntroduction
What is Cloud Studio
Cloud Studio is an online Integrated Development Environment (IDE) launched by Tencent Cloud. It allows developers to code directly through a browser without installing software locally, essentially moving the development environment from your computer to the cloud.
In 2015, Cloud Studio appeared as an independent product, making it the earliest development tool in China to combine cloud resources with an online development environment. On August 15, 2022, Tencent Cloud released Cloud Studio, an all-in-one cloud-based development tool, supporting developers in remote collaborative development and application deployment using a Web IDE.

Features of Cloud Studio
Diverse development environments: It offers rich development templates including Java Spring Boot, Python, Node.js, and more. Common environments such as Node.js, Java, and Python are built in, and you can also connect to a cloud server to configure your own. It also supports GPU runtime environments, with templates like Pytorch and TensorFlow available out of the box.
Convenient collaboration: The Web IDE enables remote collaborative development and application deployment. Features like online debugging and automatic preview can boost development efficiency. In the collaboration module, you can share links and there's a complete approval workflow. When code is modified, other endpoints can see the changes almost in real time, and you can check who made the changes. It also supports text messaging, voice, and video chat, making it easy for teams to design, discuss, and develop together.
Secure and reliable: SSH connections allow you to securely connect to cloud workspaces. Workspaces are hosted on Tencent Cloud, leveraging Tencent Cloud's security capabilities to ensure data security. In enterprise intranet environments, code remains secure, controllable, and auditable, without leakage, meeting enterprises' needs for secure code development and collaboration.
Great user experience: No download or installation required—use it directly in your browser, saving time on installing and updating software. It offers standardized cloud installation and deployment capabilities, and supports cloning of mainstream code repositories in the cloud. In scenarios that require accelerated compilation, such as AI model computation, you can adjust the specifications of the development environment and scale back after use.
Intelligent assistance: A built-in AI code assistant can generate high-quality code, help address technical challenges, and improve coding efficiency.
Rich plugins: If the default configuration isn't enough, you can install plugins online to enhance the experience, and it is also compatible with VS Code plugins.
Data persistence: No need to worry about losing code due to power outages or insufficient storage—your code is saved at any time.
Use Cases for Cloud Studio
Online programming: Open your browser and start coding right away. A rich set of development environments is available, ready to use without any manual configuration.
Rapid development: Pre-configured environments allow you to quickly create workspaces, integrating features like project startup, real-time debugging, and remote access, so you can focus on writing core business code.
Remote interviews: Interviewers can use Cloud Studio to set up coding problems and assess candidates' programming skills online.
Teaching demonstrations: University instructors can use it for teaching, performing live demonstrations and online coding, debugging, and execution.
Project collaboration: For large-scale enterprise projects, many developers can work from home and collaborate remotely, achieving higher efficiency than traditional local development models.

Cloud Studio User Guide
Creating a Workspace
Log in to the Tencent Cloud official website console, click "Use Now" to enter the Cloud Studio cloud IDE, and create a workspace using one of the following two methods:
Method 1: Click a template card under "Workspace Templates" to create one directly. It will automatically generate a workspace name and run the template's pre-configured environment and sample code. A new page will open upon successful creation.
Method 2: Click "Generic Workspace" to go to the creation page. Click "New", select a pre-configured environment, fill in the workspace name and description, and choose the runtime environment and code source. After configuring, click "Create".
Using the Workspace
In the Cloud Studio cloud IDE workspace, you can place project code, install software environments, and run or compile projects. Click "Terminal - New Terminal" in the menu bar, and a panel will open at the bottom, allowing you to perform command-line operations such as creating files and installing software.
Managing the Workspace
On the workspace list page, you can run, stop, delete, and restore workspaces:
Run: Click on a running workspace card, and it will open and run in a new page. The card will display a "Running" status.
Stop: For a running workspace, click [Stop] on the right side of the card to stop it.
Delete: Workspaces that are not running can be deleted by clicking [Delete] in the lower right corner of the card. Deleted workspaces will be retained in the "Deleted Workspaces" list for 24 hours. If not restored within this period, they will be permanently destroyed.
