What is Penguin Reading Companion?

Penguin Reading Companion is an AI reading education product officially launched on April 23, 2025, World Book Day, by the Tencent SSV Digital Teaching Lab. It is powered by Tencent's Hunyuan large model and the Yuanqi platform. Users can access it by searching "企鹅读伴" in WeChat to enter the mini-program.

Features of Penguin Reading Companion

• AI-Powered: The Hunyuan large model and Yuanqi platform provide technical support, delivering an immersive reading experience through AI.

• Personalized Recommendations: Precisely recommends suitable reading books based on students' grade level, reading ability, and interests.

• Interactive Reading: Through virtual avatars of authors and dynamic performances of classic characters, the figures in classic works "leap off the page," bringing children closer to the masterpieces. For example, students can read "Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk" together with the digital human "Lu Xun."

• Heuristic Interaction: The AI reading companion guides students through heuristic questions (such as "If you were the main character, what would you choose? Why?") to analyze plot logic, simulating Socratic questioning to inspire students' critical thinking skills.

• Gamified Design: The reading process is designed as an exploration map, with chapters turned into island levels. Completing readings rewards wisdom stars and blind box prizes to spark students' interest in reading.

• Focus Mode: Cultivates deep reading skills through the combination of text and illustrations, and supports features like underlining annotations and favorite quote collection.

• Read-Aloud Mode: AI recognizes and follows students' reading in real time, correcting it and offering encouragement.

• Listening Mode: The AI reading companion reads books aloud in students' favorite voice and tone, breaking spatial limitations.

Learning Loop

• Read-Think-Create: Builds a complete learning loop, aiming to lead children from "being forced to read books" to "actively exploring," filling the gap in traditional reading education.

• Reading Summary Report: The system automatically generates personal reading summary reports, visually presenting data such as reading time, progress, and AI interactions, and supports sharing reading achievements.

How to Use Penguin Reading Companion?

Users can search for the "企鹅读伴" mini-program in WeChat, bind their phone number or WeChat account, enter the student's gender and grade level to log in, and then view recommended books.

Books in the product are currently being launched one after another. The first phase has already launched 10 extracurricular books suitable for primary and secondary school students, and the library is planned to expand to over 70 books during the summer vacation, with more features to be continuously iterated upon thereafter.
