How LivePortrait Generates AI Content

LivePortrait's animation process involves a two-stage training pipeline:

Stage One: Base Model Training

In the first stage, the base model is trained from scratch. This stage involves optimizing the appearance extractor (F), motion extractor (M), warping module (W), and decoder (G). These components work together to extract and synthesize appearance and motion from the source image and driving video, respectively.

Stage Two: Stitching and Retargeting Module Training

In the second stage, the previously trained components are frozen, and the focus shifts to optimizing the stitching and retargeting modules. These modules improve animation quality by providing finer control over specific facial features such as the eyes and lips, enabling more detailed and expressive animations.
