Diffutoon is a groundbreaking advancement in cartoon colorization, rooted in diffusion models, that seamlessly transforms realistic video into anime visual styles. The method decomposes the cartoon colorization challenge into four discernible aspects: stylization, consistency enhancement, structural guidance, and coloring. Its primary cartoon colorization pipeline is driven by a multi-module denoising model rooted in anime-style diffusion principles, boasting impressive capabilities for rendering detailed, high-resolution, and long-duration videos. The incorporation of an editing branch facilitates content manipulation based on provided prompts. GPU memory limitations are ingeniously mitigated through the strategic integration of FlashAttention, enabling resolutions of up to 1536 x 1536.
Diffutoon is capable of rendering detailed, high-resolution, and extended-duration videos in anime style. It can also edit content through an additional branch. The effectiveness of Diffutoon is evaluated through numerical metrics and human evaluation. Notably, Diffutoon surpasses both open-source and closed-source baseline methods in our experiments.
