Douyin Launches Rumor Debunking Card Feature — No More Endless Legwork
What is Douyin's Rumor-Debunking Card?
The Douyin "Rumor-Debunking Card" is a new feature officially launched by the Douyin platform on April 7, 2025. Its purpose is to provide users with clearer and more comprehensive rumor-debunking information, creating a trustworthy content ecosystem.
When suspected misinformation appears, Douyin will use ai large models to automatically search for related content, while manual review and key information configuration are conducted to fully present the background of the rumor, its spread, and authoritative debunking information. The Rumor-Debunking Card feature is currently in trial operation.

Features of Douyin's Rumor-Debunking Card
Presenting Debunking Information: When users search for information related to rumors on Douyin, the search results will be presented in the form of a debunking card. The Rumor-Debunking Card prominently displays the results of rumor verification, providing users with a more comprehensive view of the origin, reasons for spread, and factual truth of questionable information.
Integrating Information from Multiple Sources: The card also provides users with authoritative media debunking, statements from involved parties, and other related information. For example, in the rumor related to the "10-year-old boy drifting in Hainan" incident, the Rumor-Debunking Card provided a certified statement from the involved party's sister account and debunking content from news media reports.
Combination of AI and Manual Review: The new debunking function, on the one hand, uses AI large models to automatically search for related content, and on the other hand, involves manual review and key information configuration to fully present the background of the rumor, its spread, and authoritative debunking information.
Dynamic Updates: For some "suspected rumor" information, the Rumor-Debunking Card will provide multiple statements from different sources as much as possible and maintain dynamic updates, providing users with more comprehensive event information.
Users can actively query related information through Douyin's search bar, or click the "Questionable" prompt at the bottom of the page to independently obtain more auxiliary judgment materials.
Douyin's annual governance report shows that in 2024, Douyin handled a total of 4.52 million false rumors and dealt with 48,000 videos related to rumors. The launch of the Rumor-Debunking Card feature is another attempt by Douyin to combat rumors.
