What is OWL?

OWL, which stands for Optimized Workforce Learning for General Multi-Agent Assistance in Real-World Task Automation, is an open-source general multi-agent project from the CAMEL-AI team. Built on the CAMEL-AI framework, it is a cutting-edge multi-agent collaboration framework dedicated to expanding the scope of task automation. On the GAIA benchmark, OWL achieved an average score of 58.18, ranking first among open-source frameworks.

Manus is a powerful AI agent capable of handling complex tasks such as task planning, file operations, and remote control of Ubuntu containers. However, its beta invitation codes have been resold at very high prices. To make similar capabilities accessible to more people, the CAMEL-AI team launched the OWL project.

OWL Features

  • High Performance: OWL scored 58.18 on the GAIA benchmark, ranking first among open-source frameworks.

  • Multi-Agent Collaboration: Supports dynamic agent interactions, efficiently handling complex tasks through role assignment and task decomposition.

  • Memory Capability: Agents have memory abilities, enabling them to store and recall past experiences for more efficient task execution.

  • Flexible Tool Chain: Offers extensive tool support, covering areas such as file parsing, web crawling, and code deployment.

OWL Use Cases

  • Task Automation: OWL enables task planning, file operations, code generation, document writing, and data analysis.

  • Cross-Platform Operations: Plans to integrate CRAB technology to achieve cross-platform, multi-device, full-scenario remote operations.

  • Memory and Knowledge Recall: With the memory module, agents can recall past experiences during tasks.

Installation and Usage

  1. Clone the project code first: git clone https://github.com/camel-ai/owl.git

  2. Configure the environment and install dependencies.

  3. Run the OWL Agent to execute tasks.

The CAMEL-AI team plans to integrate CRAB technology into OWL to enhance its cross-platform operational capabilities. In addition, the team is working to replicate Manus's core workflows, such as launching Ubuntu containers, connecting data sources, and automatically generating task lists.
