Sora Turbo Pricing & Subscription Benefits:

Sora Turbo is now available through sora.com to subscribers of the ChatGPT Plus and Pro plans, with availability extending to most countries outside the EU and UK. This launch is part of the company's "12 Days of OpenAI" holiday series.

Sora Turbo enables users to create videos ranging from 10 to 20 seconds in length, with resolution options from 480p to 1080p. It supports various aspect ratios, including landscape, square, and vertical formats. In addition, OpenAI provides a Storyboard tool that allows users to precisely specify inputs for each frame.

For casual users, the ChatGPT Plus subscription ($20/month) offers the ability to generate up to 50 videos per month at 480p resolution. Professional users can opt for the Pro plan ($200/month)—which debuted on Thursday (December 5)—offering higher resolution and longer durations. OpenAI stated that it plans to roll out more tailored pricing options in early 2025 to meet different user needs.

OpenAI stated in its press release that it has implemented strict safeguards in Sora Turbo, including restrictions on generating likenesses of real people and explicit content. These measures reflect the industry's growing awareness of the ethical implications of AI-generated media.

According to a TechCrunch report dated November 26, approximately two weeks before the official launch, beta testers leaked Sora's software to the AI code-sharing community Hugging Face. The leak was accompanied by criticism of OpenAI's testing program, with testers expressing concerns about the use of uncompensated labor for bug testing and feedback.

"We are not opposed to the use of artificial intelligence technology as an artistic tool (if we were, we would probably not have been invited to participate in this project)," wrote the group behind the leak, Sora PR Puppets. "What we disagree with is the way this artist program has been rolled out, and how the tool was shaped before its possible public release. We are sharing this with the world in the hope that OpenAI will become more open, more artist-friendly, and will support art beyond PR stunts."

The public release of Sora Turbo comes at a time of intensifying competition in the AI video generation space. Companies including Luma AI, Kling, 即梦AI, 海螺, and Tencent have all launched their own AI-driven video generators.
