Glyph-ByT5, a text encoder that improves the accuracy of text rendering in image generation.Glyph-ByT5 can handle not only single letters or words, but also entire paragraphs, and can intelligently arrange text layout and perform automatic typesetting to ensure a beautiful appearance.

Through its upgraded version Glyph-ByT5-v2, Glyph-ByT5 provides higher accuracy and broader language support for text rendering in image generation.

Glyph-ByT5 Highlights:

Glyph-ByT5 identifies two key requirements for a text encoder to achieve accurate visual text rendering: character recognition and glyph alignment. Therefore, Glyph-ByT5 proposes a customized text encoder, Glyph-ByT5, by fine-tuning the character-aware ByT5 encoder using a carefully curated paired glyph-text dataset.

Glyph-ByT5 proposes an effective method for integrating Glyph-ByT5 with SDXL, thereby creating the Glyph-SDXL model for design image generation. This significantly improves the accuracy of text rendering, increasing it from less than 20% to nearly 90% on the Glyph-ByT5 design image benchmark. Notably, Glyph-SDXL's newly discovered text paragraph rendering capability achieves high spelling accuracy for tens to hundreds of characters through automatic multi-line layout.
