Agent Hospital: The First Virtual AI Hospital

Agent Hospital, a virtual ai hospital, was recently created by researchers at Tsinghua University. In this virtual world, they built "Agent Hospital," where all doctors, nurses, and patients are controlled by intelligent agents driven by large language models (LLMs) capable of autonomous interaction. It simulates the entire real medical process in a hospital. Agent Hospital simulates the complete medical workflow from disease onset to treatment and recovery, including triage, registration, consultation, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
In the Agent Hospital simulated environment, doctor agents are able to complete the treatment of 10,000 patients within a few days, whereas human doctors would need two years to reach a comparable level.
The patients, nurses, and doctors inside are all AI agents driven by LLMs, capable of autonomous interaction, simulating scenarios and workflows similar to a real hospital. On a real MedQA dataset, real-world verification was conducted and showed that its accuracy on respiratory diseases reached 93.06%, a state-of-the-art level.
Liu Yang, head of the Agent Hospital research group, said that this innovative approach allows real doctors to treat virtual patients while also providing better training for medical students.
Liu emphasized that by simulating various 人工智能 patients, students can confidently propose treatment plans without risking harm to real patients.
"The AI hospital can simulate and predict various medical scenarios, such as the spread, development, and control of infectious diseases in a certain region," he added.
Liu announced that after six months of development, the AI hospital is close to being practical and is planned to be put into operation in the second half of 2024.
