Anthropic launched Claude 3 on Monday. According to the startup, the most capable model in the series, Claude 3 Opus, outperforms Openai's rival GPT-4 and Google's Gemini 1.0 Ultra across a variety of benchmarks, offering multimodal capabilities and reasoning comparable to humans, with faster speeds and higher accuracy!

Anthropic's newly launched Claude 3 AI model series offers three models with different performance levels and costs—Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus—featuring high performance, multilingual capabilities, breakthrough speed, visual recognition, and reduced error rates, to meet intelligent needs across various fields.

Key Features

  • Anthropic has released the Claude 3 AI model series, which includes three models: Haiku, Opus, and Sonnet.

  • The Opus and Sonnet models are already live, open to 159 countries around the world, while the Haiku model is coming soon.

  • The Claude 3 series offers real-time response, excellent multilingual processing capabilities, fewer false refusals, improved accuracy, and long-term memory capabilities.

  • The models focus respectively on intelligence (Opus), balance (Sonnet), and speed (Haiku), each with clear costs and use cases.

  • The Claude 3 models are designed with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability, striving to reduce bias, improve fairness and neutrality, and have been rated at AI Safety Level 2.

Around this time last year, Anthropic was seen as a promising generative AI startup founded by former OpenAI research executives. It had completed Series A and B funding rounds, but had only launched the first version of its chat bot, with no consumer access or fanfare.

12 months later, it has become one of the hottest AI startups, with backers including Google, Salesforce, and Amazon, and its products directly competing with ChatGPT in both enterprise and consumer markets. Last year, the startup closed five separate funding deals totaling about $7.3 billion.

Anthropic plans to release frequent updates to the Claude 3 model family over the coming months, along with new features such as tool use, interactive coding, and "advanced agent capabilities." The company said it remains committed to ensuring safety measures keep pace with advances in AI capabilities, and that the risk of catastrophic harm from Claude 3 models "can be effectively ruled out at this time."
