Tencent's China Literature to Launch "Miracle Short Drama" Streaming Platform

According to reports, China Literature will launch the "Qiji Short Drama" (奇迹短剧) playback platform, which is expected to become a playback and distribution channel for China Literature's short dramas going forward.
"Qiji Short Drama" is a short drama playback platform launched by China Literature Group under Tencent, aiming to catch up with platforms such as Douyin and Kuaishou in the short drama market. According to reports, the "Qiji Short Drama" platform was initially explored by some business units of China Literature, and the exploration of this product began in the middle of last year. The product completed development in September and completed product filing with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in December. It is currently in an internal refinement stage and may be launched soon. As an independent short drama playback application, Qiji Short Drama is still in the internal testing stage.
In addition, the filing entity of "Qiji Short Drama" is Beijing Tianjin Digital Technology Development Co., Ltd. (北京天金数码科技发展有限公司), which is also the operating entity of China Literature's Tianfang Ting Shu Wang (天方听书网). This indicates that Qiji Short Drama has strong operational support and resource integration capabilities behind it. At the same time, Qiji Short Drama has already passed the filing with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, demonstrating its compliance and market recognition.
From a content perspective, "Qiji Short Drama" has already begun to launch some short drama content, such as the "Go Work! Heiress" (《打工吧!千金》) series, which went online on February 8, 2024. This indicates that Qiji Short Drama is not only a playback channel, but also a content production and distribution platform.
Tencent Group is actively expanding its short drama footprint, not limited to China Literature Group. On WeChat, by entering the keyword "short drama" (短剧) through WeChat's "Search" (搜一搜) function, users will be directed to a display area that aggregates short drama content from multiple platforms. Clicking the "More" button within the area will display all short drama content, with categories such as "Hot-blooded" (热血), "Costume" (古装), and "Fantasy" (玄幻) appearing.
In addition, earlier this year, Tencent Video's sub-brand Tencent Weishi (腾讯微视) began to make arrangements in the short drama field. In February, it partnered with QQ Short Video and Tencent Content Open Platform to vigorously invest in short video production.
The growth of the short drama market is reflected in the rapid expansion of market size, growing from 368 million yuan in 2021 to 37.39 billion yuan in 2023, and is expected to reach 100.68 billion yuan by 2027. These data fully demonstrate the huge potential and development trends of the short drama market.
