When Will OpenAI Release Sora to the Public? 309

The company behind ChatGPT, Openai, set the internet ablaze on Friday as it unveiled its new AI model Sora, which can create videos up to one minute long based on text prompts. It is a text-to-video generator that has the tech world buzzing, and the question of when OpenAI will release Sora to the public has also ignited the curiosity and speculation of content creators and tech enthusiasts.

As of now, OpenAI has not provided a specific release date for Sora to the public, and the tech world expects Sora may be released sometime in 2024. However, this is only speculation and has not been officially confirmed by OpenAI.

Sora was announced on February 15, 2024, and was officially released on its website on February 16. The Sora model is currently in a testing phase. Although Sora has already been granted access to some researchers and creators, and OpenAI demonstrated its capabilities in example videos posted on the social platform X, the feature has not yet been opened to the public. Sora is currently only accessible to red team members (experts in areas such as misinformation, hateful content, and bias), who work through implementing safety measures to actively address potential misuse of Sora. These are used to block requests for violent, pornographic, or hateful content. In addition, OpenAI is also allowing access to visual artists, designers, and filmmakers to gather feedback on enhancing the model. However, the company certainly intends to eventually make the model available to all users.

OpenAI is committed to conducting thorough safety testing and feedback mechanisms before any public release, identifying and addressing any potential issues to ensure that the artificial intelligence model is safe, reliable, and ready for widespread use.

In summary, OpenAI's Sora holds tremendous promise in reshaping the way we interact with AI-generated video content. As for when OpenAI will release Sora to the public, interested individuals should keep an eye on OpenAI's official channels for the most accurate and reliable information regarding Sora's availability.
